Durga is the invincible warrior form of the great goddess, created from the combined energies of the gods to defeat the buffalo demon Mahishasura, whom no male god could overcome. Riding a lion and bearing a weapon in each of her many arms, she embodies the fierce, protective power of the divine feminine.
Her victory is celebrated across the nine nights of Navratri and at Durga Puja.
