Who is Krishna?

Krishna is the eighth avatar of Vishnu and among the most beloved deities in Hinduism — cowherd, prince, charioteer, friend and teacher. Born in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva and raised in Gokul, his childhood is a treasury of beloved tales, from stealing butter to lifting Mount Govardhan.

As Arjuna’s charioteer at Kurukshetra he delivers the Bhagavad Gita, counselling action without attachment to its fruit. He embodies divine love, playful grace and the deepest wisdom.
