Rishyasringa is the young sage who ends a drought in Anga and then leads King Dasharatha's sacrifices for sons, from which Rama and his brothers are born. He marries the princess Shanta.
Who was Rishyasringa?
Raised in the forest by his father Vibhandaka, Rishyasringa has never seen a woman or a town. When drought strikes Anga, King Romapada sends young women to draw him out, and rain follows him into the kingdom.
Dasharatha brings him to Ayodhya to conduct the ashvamedha and the putrakameshti. From the fire of this rite rises the being with the bowl of payasam, and the queens conceive the four princes.
