Angiras is one of the ancient seers and a progenitor of the Angirasa families of priests. He is named among the great sages in the genealogies of the Bala Kanda.

Who was Angiras?

Angiras is honoured in the Rigveda as an ancestor of priests and the father of Brihaspati, teacher of the gods. In the Ramayana he appears in lists of sages and progenitors rather than in the action of the story.
