Who was Angada?

After Vali's death Rama makes Sugriva king and Angada heir. Angada leads the search party that includes Hanuman and Jambavan; when they fail to return within the month, he despairs and proposes fasting to death, until the vulture Sampati tells them Sita is in Lanka.

Before the war Rama sends Angada as envoy to Ravana. In later retellings he plants his foot in Ravana's court and challenges anyone to move it. In battle he defeats Indrajit in a night fight and kills Vajradamshtra, Narantaka and Mahaparshva.
