Who was Sharabhanga?
As Rama approaches Sharabhanga's hermitage, he sees Indra in his chariot departing; Indra has come to take the sage to heaven, but Sharabhanga chose to wait for Rama.
Having seen Rama, Sharabhanga offers him the merit of his penance, directs him to the sage Sutikshna, and then lights a fire, enters it and rises in a youthful, shining form to Brahma's realm.
