Manu Vaivasvata, son of the sun god Vivasvan, is the father of humankind in the present age and the founder of Ayodhya. His son Ikshvaku begins the line that leads to Rama.
Who was Manu Vaivasvata?
The Bala Kanda says that Ayodhya was built by Manu himself, lord of men. In Vasishtha's recital of the lineage, Manu stands between the sun and Ikshvaku, which is why Rama's family is called the solar dynasty.
Manu is also remembered as the giver of law in the Manusmriti tradition and, in the Puranas, as the king saved by Vishnu's fish avatar from the great flood.
In the Valmiki Ramayana
Manu Vaivasvata appears in 1 sargas across 1 Kandas.
