Who was Dilipa?
In Vishwamitra's telling of the Ganga story, Dilipa spends his reign anxious about his ancestors' fate and performs many sacrifices, yet finds no way to bring the river down. His son Bhagiratha takes up the task.
A different King Dilipa, famous in Kalidasa's Raghuvamsha for serving the cow Nandini, is often placed later in the same Ikshvaku line as the father of Raghu.
