Prayag
प्रयागPrayag, at the meeting of the Ganga and Yamuna, is the site of the sage Bharadwaja's ashram. Rama, Sita and Lakshmana rest here early in the exile, and Bharadwaja guides them to Chitrakoot.
RegionPrayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
Why is Prayag sacred?
Bharadwaja welcomes the exiles and advises them to live on Chitrakoot hill. Later he entertains Bharata's whole army by the power of his penance, a scene of great splendour in the Ayodhya Kanda.
On the journey home in the Pushpaka, Rama stops again at Prayag to greet the sage and sends Hanuman ahead to Bharata.
