Taksha is the elder son of Bharata and Mandavi. After Bharata conquers the land of the gandharvas he founds the city of Takshashila for Taksha, which is traditionally linked with ancient Taxila.
Who was Taksha?
In the Uttara Kanda, Bharata leads an army to the northwest at the request of Yudhajit of Kekaya and defeats the gandharvas there. He builds two cities and gives them to his sons.
Taksha receives Takshashila, a name tradition connects with Taxila, later one of the great centres of learning in the ancient world.
In the Valmiki Ramayana
Taksha appears in 1 sargas across 1 Kandas.
