Angada is the elder son of Lakshmana and Urmila. In the Uttara Kanda Rama gives him the kingdom of Karupatha in the west, with its capital Angadiya. He should not be confused with the vanara prince Angada, son of Vali.

Who was Angada (son of Lakshmana)?

Late in Rama's reign, Rama asks his brothers to find lands for Lakshmana's two sons. Angada receives the country of Karupatha and rules from the city of Angadiya, while his brother Chandraketu receives Malla country.

Lakshmana escorts his sons to their new kingdoms and stays to see them settled. This Angada is a human prince of the Ikshvaku line; the better known Angada of the Ramayana is the vanara son of Vali and Tara.
