Who was Mandavi?
Mandavi is Sita's cousin, the elder daughter of Janaka's brother Kushadhwaja. Her marriage to Bharata is part of the great fourfold wedding in Mithila.
Valmiki says little about her life afterward. Later tradition honours her for living apart in austerity while Bharata ruled from Nandigram as Rama's servant. In the Uttara Kanda her sons Taksha and Pushkala become kings of the cities Bharata founds in the northwest.
In the Valmiki Ramayana
Mandavi appears in 2 sargas across 1 Kandas.
