Trishula: Who bears it

त्रिशूल

The Trishula is the three-pointed trident of Shiva, his principal weapon and symbol. Its prongs are read as creation, preservation and dissolution, or the three gunas and the three times. With it Shiva struck off Ganesha's head, and from it he gave Durga the trident that slew Mahishasura.
