Bhagavad Gita 2.49

durena hy avaram karma buddhi-yogad dhananjaya
buddhau sharanam anviccha kripanah phala-hetavah

Translation

Action driven by desire is far inferior to action done with equanimity of mind, O Arjuna. Seek refuge in this wisdom; miserable are those who act only for the fruits.

Commentary

Acting for reward alone keeps the mind bound and anxious. Krishna urges Arjuna to take refuge in balanced wisdom, where action is offered freely and the heart stays at peace.
